The Greenwood Park Plats Historic District was established in 2013 based on its historical association with the westward expansion of Des Moines’ residential areas and as the site of the 1879-1885 State Fairs.  It includes a broad range of substantial and well preserved early residential house, cottage, and bungalow designs.  Other architectural styles include substantial two-story homes in the colonial, classical, and Tudor revival styles.  In addition, the broad dates of significance include buildings representative of the post-WWII commercial development of office and medical along Ingersoll Avenue.
