This month we were hosted by Melanie and Cameron Sadeghpour at their second of two Des Moines homes they’re working on. They moved to Kingman Blvd. from a home in Sherman Hill (which they may be willing to part with!)
This home was built by a brick and tile magnate and features a brick exterior. It once had a tile roof which has since been replaced with asphalt. Cameron mentioned that inside the attic you can see the immense structural supports added to support the weight of a tile roof. How cool!
The Sadeghpours are the second generation of rehabbers to live in this house. The previous owner converted the house back from several apartments into a single family house and did an amazing job restoring the woodwork. Here are some “before” pictures taken by the previous owner:
Here are some pictures from our meeting. I promise you, it’s the same house!
Even though the house is in great shape now, Melanie and Cameron are looking forward to doing some exterior improvements. Tuckpointing the brick, replacing some rotting wood near the roof line, new gutters, and adding a garden are all on the list, as well as adding a wood burning stove insert into the fireplace.
I’m sure I speak for all the Rehabbers who attended our meeting when I say we’re glad such a grand old house has come into the hands of such thoughtful and motivated caretakers.
Especially Dash, the dog.
