River Bend Victorian restored – site of a DSMRC “works in progress” tour

The Des Moines Rehabbers Club mission is to promote neighborhood revitalization and restoration of Des Moines’ unique building stock by informing, educating, inspiring, and supporting each other in all phases of home renovation and maintenance.

What is the Des Moines Rehabbers Club

Anyone with an appreciation for renovation and restoration of old buildings may join the Des Moines Rehabbers Club and attend monthly meetings or participate in the e-mail group! All you need is an interest in responsible stewardship of Des Moines’ unique buildings. We are here to provide support and encouragement for people who are undertaking renovation projects from repairing trim or replacing a toilet seat all the way through a gut renovation or full restoration project.

  • Monthly meetings – Each monthly meeting has a different focus. Past meetings have included: tours of “works in progress,” how-to sessions on renovation tasks like reglazing a window, informational meetings with city code officials, etc
  • Special Events – The club organizes and sponsors events like our “How to Rehab a House in the City” class series
  • E-Mail Group – Free e-mail listserve is a forum for members to ask renovation related questions, get contractor referrals, and make connections
  • Web Site – The DSMRC web site at http://RenovateDSM.org serves as an information clearinghouse for articles, project photos, links, and publicity
